Yes, another VIDEO OF THE WEEK!
I had many choices for this weeks video-of-the-week, but once I remembered this particular gem, all others faded away. The song is Bachelorette by miss Iceland herself Bjork, and the song is quite beautiful. But I think the award must go to the video’s director Michel Gondry for this amazing journey into self-reference. This video is a look at the idea of self reference around the character of Bachelorette. You can see by the end of the video that the more the characters litterally look at themselves, deeper and deeper, the more disgusted they become with what they see. This is so very true, is it not, with the state of our hearts. “The heart is more deceitful than all else.” says the Jeremiah 17:9 and what can cut through to the inner depths of man but the word of God, God Himself peering deep into mans heart. The more we rightly see our own hearts, that is but through a God like lens, the scriptures, and enlightened by the Holy Spirit, and compared with the cross…than we are sure to be disgusted as well. We are truly loved in Gods eyes yes, but that is because He see’s Christ in our stead. We are sinners. Christians are still sinners, and sin seeks to deceive. To beable to have an authentic self reference must be the grace of God with the sole purpose of turning the sinner to Christ. Cling to Him who has done the work and paid the penalty.
This video though, with creativity alone, with out the spiritual infused into it, definitly wins a spot on this weeks Video of the Week
